UP - The next film from Pixar

I saw the trailer for UP the next film from Pixar coming in 2009.  The way that Pixar has been doing their trailers almost makes you anxious to see what its about.  Not because it looks cool but because it grabs your interest and then gives you just enough to say...well what the heck is it about?

The trailer for UP does the same thing.

Check it out here.

100% Green Car?

So I love going to this website: because they post some of the weirdest and coolest things.

One thing that caught my eye was the AirPOD vehicle.

Its a car that runs totally on compressed air.  A single tank of compressed will take you 13o miles.  Only downfall is it will only go 45mph.  Not bad if you do a lot of local driving.

Imagine only having to fill up using the air compressor at the gas station.  Hmm paying $1-$2 for air.  To go 130 miles the AirPOD would cost $1.   Compare to a car that gets 20mpg, it would cost a little over $21 at price $3.25/gallon of gas.

I'd totally get one if its cheap and available in the US!

To Carry or Not To Carry...

There are many times where I've been out somewhere and said to myself, dang I wish I brought my DLSR camera. Yes I have an iPhone that can take pictures but the photo quality isn't as great as something I could take on my Nikon.

I've always gone back and forth with myself about bringing the camera with me everywhere I go but for the most part I end up leaving it at home. I normally bring my camera for larger events (birthdays, weddings, parties, etc.). I just get bored of taking these same types of photos.

I want to bring the camera with me because:
- I can take photos of things that catch my attention or things I like.
- There are tons of photo opportunities to take pictures of people, structures, anything.

I don't want to bring it all the time because:
- I would have to bring the bag and all the accessory gear.
- I have a sling back and its not a bag I feel is the most comfortable bag to wear for long periods of time.
- I run the risk of it being lost or stolen.

Maybe I'll just suck it up, look like a tourist and bring it where ever I go.

Any comments or suggestions are greatly welcomed!!!

As Seen on TV

I wouldn't say I'm an infomerical junkie.  I do my due diligence and see if a product is good or bad based on other's experiences.

In other words...I let other people be the suckers..I mean guinea pigs.

Over the years my as seen on tv purchases have worked out quite well.

One of the products I've been happy with is the Total Trolley.  It transforms from a step ladder, furniture dolly, cart and hand truck all in one.  Each mode has worked as expected and has been quite helpful when I've moved.

The only gripe I have about it is the wheels are hard so when going over rough surfaces the Totally Trolley makes a lot of noise.

I don’t think they make this product anymore but I’m sure you can find them on Amazon or eBay.

The next item that has saved me so much time and effort is the Hercules Hook.  Hanging up picture frames and mirrors have never been easier.

This simple piece of metal has one end that is a small hook and the other end has a sharp point.  The sharp point goes through the wall and you push the metal piece all the way through until you get to the other end where the small hook is.  Once the hook part meets the wall you twist it and that’s it.  The pressure from the object you hang on the hook is used to keep the entire piece of metal in place.

Removal of the hook is just the reverse and quite easy.  The hole left behind is a little larger than a nail hole but can easily be covered up.

So far I’ve been able to hang a 10-15 lb mirror and various picture frames.

This product can usually be found online but also at your local Target store.

My latest purchase is the HAAN steam mop.

Supposedly it’s the most purchased mop in Korea.  It’s a mop that uses steam to clean floors and kill 99% of bacteria. According to the manufacturer, the mop can be used on all types of flooring, tile, wood, laminate.  It has an attachment that can be used to clean carpets, sofas and beds.  The steam kills any dust mites that may be munching on  your dead skin cells. YUMMY.

Having a pup that pees in our house means we have to clean our floor constantly.  I got tired of having to use so many paper towels to clean up after him and that pee smell always lingered.  So I figured I’d give this thing a shot.

Today I used it in our kitchen which is where our pup has been trained to pee on a pee pad.  Unfortunately from time to time he’ll pee outside of the pee pad if its soaked or just is a lazy ass and pees wherever he wants.  I have to give it to him though, at least he only pees in the kitchen.

Before I started using the mop, I did my normal cleaning of the floor to see if there would be a big enough difference after using this mop.  I filled the mop with 1 cup of distilled water and let it heat up for a couple of minutes.  I started to go over the areas where the dog’s pee pad normally lays.  I was quite surprised that after a few passes I could smell pee.

Like I mentioned before, I just cleaned this area and yet after going over it with the mop, it smelled like pee.  I guess this steam stuff is really releasing whatever is left over on the tile.

I also noticed that after I went began to mop another area of the kitchen, the previous area I just mopped was already dry.  Very little moisture was left on the tile but the grout was still a little moist but that’s expected.

1 cup of distilled water enabled me to clean our entire kitchen floor, which is about 15 sqft in about 15 minutes.  It wasn’t hard work at all, just let the mop do all the work.

All in all, I would say I’m quite satisfied with the mop.  I’ll have to try it on the hard wood floors next and see how that goes.  Until then I give the HAAN steam mop 2 thumbs up.

You can find this product online for the normal price of $110-$120 + shipping.  If you want to save some $ you can find it at Linens N Things for $80 and it comes with the attachment to use it on the carpet, sofas and bed.  You have to act soon though because its only at this low price because Linens N Things is going out of business.

Passing Gas

So gas prices are finally dropping.  For some, its not a real big impact because they're still driving their gas hoarding SUV's or high performance luxury cars.

I used to drive an Acura TL that required 91 premium gas.  So when gas prices were hitting that $3.00 mark, I was spending $45-$55 per tank and would barely get 300 miles per gallon.  If I kept the TL I would have been spending closer to $75 per fill up.

Don't get me wrong I loved my TL.  Loved everything about it, the built in navi, bluetooth, it had all the gadgets I wanted in a car.  I was definitely sad to see it go, but it was more saddening to have an empty bank account due to driving.

I traded in the TL for a more economical car, a Honda Civic Hybrid.  While it didn't have all the amenities as the TL, it did have what I needed, high MPG and the same exact navigation system as the TL.

Having the TL for the past 2 years has saved me a lot of money and I've gotten more bang for my buck because of the increase in miles per gallon.

As of late, I've been spending $35-$38 on average to fill up the hybrid and average 400-425 miles per gallon.  Although that sounds great compared to what I would have spent if I kept the TL, I still think $35 per tank is still high.

(Begin Old timers Moment)
I remember when I was in high school...gas was $.80-$1.00 per gallon and I drove a Mustang.  In an entire month I wouldn't spend close to $50.

So yesterday when I went to fill up my tank I almost couldn't believe it.
$25 to fill up.

The proof is in the picture.

Gotta love having a Hybrid.

The start of it all

So I figured my first post for this blog should be about why I decided to start a blog in the first place.

The name of my blog, Lindy Likes It, is pretty much self explanatory. But to add more words to this post I'll elaborate.
Well one day my significant other whom I shall call Bubba, (Some may already know why I call her that and for those who don't, maybe one day I'll share the story behind it in a blog posting) said I should start a blog because people always come to me to ask me about my opinions on a variety of things. I tell her ok and think to myself, "maybe this could be my new thing?". So I began the process to sign up for a new blog. Bubba and I were discussing what the name of the blog should be. After a few mins of discussion I decided on Lindy Likes It because really this blog is about things I like, so there you have it.

I like a lot of things. I find things interesting because I think its funny, weird or off the wall, absolutely ridiculous or just because it catches my attention.

I dabble in a few things that I guess I could call hobbies from time to time, such as electronics (computers, gadgets, etc.), photography, videography, graphic design. Some of my other likes are music (various genres, I go through stages), dogs (especially the Pembroke Welsh Corgi breed, I just got one not too long ago), martial arts, movies, and other things that don't come to mind right now.

But all in all...I love technology. I love things that make our day to day lives easier. Some say its because I'm lazy but I will never concede to that remark. I think of myself as a person who likes to be efficient. I don't like taking extra steps if I don't need to. Life is short, why make things harder on yourself when you don't need to? I don't have time for that. I think technology fills that need to be efficient.
How would the world be without computers, cell phones, all in one remotes, cheese in a can? Ok, the world would still be the same without the cheese whiz but still. The little things that make our lives a little bit easier can go a long way.

So more to come on what I like. Hopefully this journey will be a fun one and I hope lots of people come to join me on the ride. If not, then I guess it'll be just me myself and I. 3 of my favorite people.

Cheers to efficiency!
